Veteran Award Thanksgiving Service and Inauguration of Club 80plus at PCN Duke Town Cathedral


It was an epoch making event as for the first time in the history of the Cathedral, the Session and Entire members of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Duke Town Cathedral Calabar, gathered to Celebrate the Aged, thank God for their lives, award and inauguarate them into the Club 80 Plus...

It was a time of Joy, Worship, Praise and Thanksgiving to God Almighty for Preserving the lives of these Veterans (80 Years and Above), who have contributed immensely to the growth of the Church and has been a blessing to the body of Christ in their various capacities...

The event which was staged on the esteemed Mother Church of the Presbyterian Church, was witnessed by several esteemed Ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, which includes: The G.A Moderator (His Eminence, Rev. Nzie Nsi Eke), Rev. Joseph Eton (The Family Pastor and Minister In Charge of PCN Duke Town Cathedral), Rev. Dr. E. Akpanika, Rev. Dr. Ubong Eyo, Rev. Bessie Akpan, Rev. Chineme A. Daniel, Rev. Prisca Udofia, Rev. Lovina Williams, Rev. S.A. Etema and Host of other Ministers present.

In his Sermon, the Guest Minister of the Service, Archibishop Emmanuel Udofia of the Methodist Church Nigeria, highlighted the Importance of Honouring and recognizing THE AGED in the society, Church and Family.
He had the following to say to the Veterans...
...The Mouth of the Aged is a bank of blessing, which Heaven recognizes and honours, therefore Aged People should bless and guide the younger Ones with their Words and not Curse...
....As an Elderly Person in the Family, heaven holds your words in high esteem, therefore, Use your words meticulously...
And to the Younger Generation, He says...
...Any house or family you don't find an Old Person, Run Away... Old age is a blessing and for anyone to enjoy and partake of this blessing, you must respect and honour the Aged...

 Award and Inauguation of Club 80 Plus

To Confer the Award on the Veterans and Inaugurate the Club 80Plus was The Moderator of the General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria - His Eminence, Rev. Nzie Nsi Eke. He congratulated the Veterans for their services to God and the Church and encouraged other members to learn from their examples and follow their footsteps to attract God's blessings. In His words, he says,
...Any Community, Assembly, Congregation or Family that fails to honour the Aged, then there is something wrong with them...
